Woke up to a frozen tent, the storm yesterday afternoon left it wet with hail sitting around it and then a cold night. I just shoved it in its sack and headed out. Will dry it out later in the sun. Beautiful morning with great views of the lakes as I was leaving.
It was going to be a bit of a rough day but I didn’t have that many miles to do so generally took it easy. One very cool spot on trail was a stream we crossed that turns out to be the headwaters of the Rio Grande. Had to stop there and fill up on water!
Shortly after that decided to stop for the day and setup camp. I was again above treeline in a very exposed situation but that pretty much my only option. Eventually I was joined by Two Mile, Juls, and a lady from Poland. The lady from Poland was not thru hiking, she has come just to hike to the Elk Creek Drainage and see the view.
We had a good evening chatting.
