Right now I’m huddled in my tent, camped by a swap at 12107 feet hoping it holds together. High winds and rain. This is fun? I’ve been through fun like this before, it’s not.
Today was up and over Cottonwood pass to finish the Collegiate West segment Two. Good hard hike with lots of up, played leap frog with a number of young folks, one playing a flute. The scenery was astounding except for our friend the smoke!
I did come across a log cabin on the way, trees growing through the remains and rusty stuff inside.
Tomorrow is all of Collegiate West Three, hence I’m camped near a swamp. CW-03 is 15.9 miles and all above treeline, virtually no camping available except early in the segment at Lost Lake. I mistook this swamp to be Lost Lake and didn’t realize my mistake until I was all setup. Ug! To tired to relocate so here I sit. It will work. Tomorrow will be long hike until campsites come along, probably 16 or so miles.
Was thinking this morning; it’s a damned good thing you did this after Mom was gone (and Aunt Jackie); or you’d be hearing “it” regularly. Stay safe; we love you!
Some great views there Dean. But I suppose those get old after awhile. 🙂
