Started pretty dry this morning on top of the Monarch Mountain ski area. It’s resupply day! Today I walk past The Monarch Crest gift shop where we dropped a supply box last month. I’m excited! Real food, bathrooms, and even chairs to sit on! Packed up and headed out. The first part of the hike was along a service road at the top of the mountain. It goes along the ski resort and there are lifts and such used during the ski season kinda cool.
Next was into the trees on the way to the gift shop. The shop is on Hwy 50 so when I got close I stopped and put on the shirt I use for sleeping, my hiking shirt stinks! And then, there it was, the shop!
I headed in, grabbed my supplies, and some real food. The folks there are really nice and even supply a spot inside for hikers to arrange thier stuff and charge their electronics. Thank You!
The rest of the day was hiking in some nice open areas. Great trail for mountain bikes and trail motorcycles. Both looked really fun! Also rejoined the main trail, out of the Colligate West sections!
Headed down to camp near the Green Creek Shelter. Met a pair of retired sisters that are hiking the whole trail, about ten miles a day. They were funny, matching tents gourmet meals. Chatting all the time. Really loving trail life! Another hiker Stacy showed up. Had a good time chatting and using the shelter to cook in and such. It had a long bench to sit on and was a nice refuge from the on and off sprinkles.
