Not much to say about this day, another plodding kind of day, making miles and trying not to get wet. I was a little behind so needed a good mileage day. It rained during the night so packing up my wet stuff was not fun. Hit the trail and just walked. Mostly in forested areas so not many pics.
Made the miles I wanted and ended at a camp by a stream, very wet area. When I got there, three tents were already up and nobody to be seen because… It was raining! They were all huddled in their tents. It was more of a sprinkle going on, I was already wet and so was my tent so I setup anyway.
After an hour or so the rain stopped and my campmates emerged. First was Two Miles, he had barefeet and was three sheets to the wind. Said he had a three hour “happy hour” in his tent. Then was Snicks, nice guy, kind of a fire bug. Then, an older guy, looked like a hermit and had hiked all over the place. Very knowledgeable about long distance hiking. They were all my same vintage 50 – 70 years old. One of them (Snicks) really wanted a fire so he ran off to find dry wood. I couldn’t believe it but he found some and got a fire started, amazing. It was short lived about 15 minutes after it got going a black wall of rain moved in and we all ran for cover. That was it for the night, hiding from the rain. I spent the whole time, while it was raining, sopping up puddles from my leaking tent, not happy.
Rain, rain go away…come back another day when Dean’s NOT hiking the CT! XOX
Hey Dean,
Thanks again for the updates. I really look forward to them. Sounds like a little bit too much type 2 fun 😉 Hang in there the memories last!
Fun types:
1) fun to do, fun to talk about after
2) not fun to do, fun to talk about after
3) thought it would be fun but it really isn’t
Hahahaha, Thanks Todd!
Thanks for the update Dean, hope you find drier weather down the road.
Two Miles…. Snicks….. What was your nickname?
Don’t have one yet.
